Core Members

David Altshuler

Clinical endocrinologist and human geneticist David Altshuler is director of the Medical and Population Genetics program. He is a leader in the study of human genetic variation and its application to disease, using tools and information from the Human Genome Project.

Deborah Hung

Deborah Hung is a chemical biologist and an infectious disease physician who is using novel methods to unearth the key interactions between pathogens and their hosts, with the goal of discovering new antibiotic targets. She was appointed as a core faculty member in August2006 and will begin as an assistant professor at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School in September 2006.

Aviv Regev

Aviv Regev is a computational biologist with interests in biological networks, gene regulation and evolution. Her work focuses on dissecting complex molecular networks to determine how they function and evolve in the face of genetic and environmental changes. She became a core member in January 2006 and also serves as assistant professor of biology at MIT.

Physician-researcher Todd Golub serves as director of the Cancer program. A leader in applying genomic tools to the classification and study of cancers, Golub uses the human genome as a basis toward understanding the biological and clinical challenges facing cancer medicine.

Eric Lander

A geneticist, molecular biologist and mathematician, Eric Lander is the director of the Broad Institute. He has been a driving force in the development of genomics and a prominent leader of the Human Genome Project.

Stuart Schreiber

A pioneer in the field of chemical biology, Stuart Schreiber serves as director of the Chemical Biology program. He has developed systematic ways to explore biology, especially disease biology, using small molecules toward the development of therapeutic drugs.
